An electric motor squirrel cage is a type of AC motor, also known as an induction motor. Its rotor structure resembles a squirrel cage, hence its name. This type of motor is characterized by simple structure, high reliability and low maintenance cost, and is widely used in household appliances, industrial production and transportation. The rotor winding of the squirrel cage motor is not wound by insulated wires, but is welded or cast from aluminum or copper bars and short-circuit rings, and this structure makes the squirrel cage motor have the advantages of low maintenance cost and long service life.
Three Phase Asynchronous Motor
Three phase asynchronous motor which is also named as 3 phase motors is widely used in industry. It has become the workhorse of many mechanical and electromechanical systems due to their simplicity and long service life. Three phase asynchronous motor is one type of induction motor, or asynchronous motor, that operates by the principals of electromagnetic induction. Besides three phase motor, there are also single-phase induction motors. Single phase induction motors are used less frequently in industrial applications, but are widely used in domestic applications such as in vacuum cleaners, refrigerator compressors, and air conditioners, which is mainly for the use of homes and offices. VFD ready motor (Variable frequency drive motor) is a motor system that controls the motor speed through a variable frequency drive. By using the variable frequency drive, the input voltage and frequency can be changed, thereby controlling the motor speed. This speed control method is more flexible and precise compared to traditional mechanical speed control methods, allowing for dynamic adjustment of the motor speed as needed. VFD ready motors are suitable for various industrial applications and automation systems. They are commonly used in equipment and systems that require frequent adjustment of speed, such as fans, pumps, compressors, and conveyors.

Asynchronous 3-phase motor consists of two basic components, stator and rotor. Stator is the fixed part of the motor. It doesn't move or rotate. Please refer to the photo on the right for its appearance. In the stator, there is a stator core and field windings. For an asynchronous 3 phase motor, a separate winding is set for each 3 phase. It forms a space where the current and magnetic field can be generated.
I took a photo of our electrical workshop for your reference. We have two areas. One is the mannual windings area, the other is the machine automatic winding area. Mannual windings are still necessary especiall for large motors.

Common Troubleshooting of Electric Motor Squirrel Cage
Motor fails to start or start slowly
This could be a sign of a power supply issue, an overloaded motor, or a fault in the starter circuit. Verify the power supply voltage and connections. A motor that struggles to start may also have a seized bearing or be facing mechanical resistance; inspect for any obstructions or signs of wear in moving parts.
Excessive heating
Overheating can arise from several causes, including overload, poor ventilation, or a high ambient temperature. First, check the motor load and ensure there's no excess. Unusual vibrations or noises
These could indicate misalignment, bearing failure, or an imbalance in the motor or attached components. Carefully examine and realign the motor and driven equipment. Replace bearings if worn or damaged, and balance the motor rotor if an imbalance is detected.
Tripped overload protectors
Overload protectors trip to prevent motor damage when they detect excessive current draw, which may be caused by an overload, a short circuit, an Undervoltage condition, or a motor defect. Identify and correct the overload condition, check for short circuits, ensure proper voltage levels, and examine the motor for internal defects.
Maintenance of Electric Motor Squirrel Cage
