Generally speaking, motors with a voltage above 1000V are called High voltage Asynchronous Motors.
The stator winding insulation grade of the electric motors is higher, and F or H insulation class are mostly used. And normally the motors are equipped with cooling systems to control the temperature. Because it is of high power, direct starting will cause an impact on the power grid, and normally to start it with a soft starter or a frequency converter. At the same time, multiple protection devices such as over current, over voltage and grounding should be configured to ensure operational safety.

High voltage Asynchronous Motors are core power equipment in steel mills, mainly used to drive large and high-power production facilities, covering key links in the entire process from iron making to steel rolling.
In the iron making process of a steel plant, this electric motors drive large fans and pumps that are part of the blast furnace, such as blast furnace blowers and combustion support fans for hot blast stoves, as well as belt conveyors for transporting iron making raw materials, ensuring stable oxygen supply to the blast furnace and continuous supply of raw materials. The rolling mills, fans and other equipment in steel plants require ultra-high power drives. The electric motors (typically with power ranging from several hundred to several thousand kilowatts) can stably output power to meet the requirements of continuous production.
High voltage Asynchronous Motors have very outstanding advantages. Compared with low-voltage motors, high voltage motors have lower power loss when operating at high power. Long-term use can reduce the energy consumption cost of steel plants and meet the energy-saving requirements of industry.
The production environment in steel plants is often characterized by high temperatures and a lot of dust. High voltage motor usually adopt high protection grades (such as IP54/IP55) and high-temperature resistant insulating materials, which can adapt to complex working conditions and reduce downtime due to faults.

High voltage Asynchronous Motors need regular maintenance after being put into normal use.
One-month cycle: Clean the dust and oil stains on the exterior of the motor and the cooling system. Check the lubrication condition of the bearing and replenish the grease (if it is a sliding bearing, check the oil level).
3-month cycle: Test the insulation resistance of the stator winding (using a megohmmeter) to ensure that the insulation performance has not declined. Check the tightness of the anchor bolts and coupling bolts to prevent loosening and vibration.
6-month cycle: Verify the sensitivity of motor protection devices (such as overcurrent and overvoltage protection); Check the wear condition of the carbon brushes (if it is a wound-rotor motor). Replace them when the wear exceeds the limit.
