Product Introduction

As industries evolve, explosion proof industry motors are playing a bigger role in production, processing, material handling and other key operations. They're widely used in high-risk environments prone to explosive gases, dust or vapors-such as petrochemical, coal mining, pharmaceutical and grain processing sectors. These motors are critical to safeguarding both equipment operation and personnel safety.

Why do we need explosion proof industry motors ? Take oil and gas extraction for example. The flammable hydrocarbon gases released during extraction can easily explode when their concentration in the air hits a certain level-all it takes is a spark from electrical equipment, mechanical friction, or static electricity. This would pose huge risks to personnel and production. That's why explosion-proof electrical equipment, especially explosion proof motors, are a must-have.

How to Choose the Right Industry Explosion Proof Motors

1. Determine the hazardous area classification and confirm the type of explosive substances present in the environment, such as flammable gases or dust.

Group I: Mining Industry

Group II: Surface Industry

Group III: Explosive dust and fiber environments

2.Confirm the occurrence, duration, or frequency of an explosive atmosphere.

Zone 0: Explosive gas atmospheres that are continuously present, persist for a long time, or occur frequently.

Zone 1: Explosive gas atmospheres may occasionally occur during normal operation.

Zone 2: Explosive gas atmospheres are unlikely to occur during normal operation, and even if they do occur, they will only last for a short time.

Zone 20: Dust environments are present continuously, for extended periods, or occur frequently.

Zone 21: Dust may occasionally occur during normal operation.

Zone 22: Dust environments are unlikely to occur during normal operation, and even if they do occur, they will only last for a short time.

3. Determine the gas group and temperature group. Gas group: Classified according to the maximum test safety gap and minimum ignition current ratio. It must cover or exceed the actual gas group.

IIC

Hydrogen, acetylene

IIB

Ethylene, dimethyl ether

IIA

Methane, propane, gasoline vapor, benzene

For example, for IIB environments, IIB or IIC industrial explosion-proof motors can be selected; for IIC environments, IIC motors must be selected.

4.Temperature Class: The highest surface temperature of any part of the motor surface must not exceed this value under rated operation and specified fault conditions.

T1

≤ 450°C

T2

≤ 300°C

T3

≤ 200°C

T4

≤ 135°C

T5

≤ 100°C

T6

≤ 85°C

5.Confirm electrical and mechanical parameters.

After determining the explosion-proof rating, also need to know the voltage, frequency, power, speed, and protection level of the industry explosion proof motors.

6. Confirm environment and installation.
6.1 Ambient temperature at the site

6.2 On-site altitude. Because the higher the altitude, the thinner the air, the more the heat dissipation and electrical performance of the motor will be affected, requiring derating or special design.

6.3 Site environment, Like corrosive (chemical), marine (salt spray), or high humidity environments. Need different materials.
