How to choose a suitable variable frequency induction motors

Constant torque (such as conveyor belts and mixers) requires the motor to continuously output stable torque. Constant power (such as machine tool spindles) requires maintaining power at high speeds. For variable loads, a torque margin of 10% to 20% should be reserved
Select according to the actual working speed to ensure that the motor speed regulation range covers the requirements .
Confirm the installation method , installation space dimensions, and also environmental factors like temperature, humidity and dust and select a model with a protection level that is compatible.

The rated voltage of the motor should be consistent with the output voltage of the frequency converter (such as 380V, 660V), and the frequency range should cover the regulation range of the frequency converter (usually 5-50Hz or wider).
Under variable frequency operating conditions, voltage harmonics are prone to damage insulation. It is advisable to prioritize F-class or H-class insulation motors to prevent insulation aging due to long-term operation.
Select the rated power of the motor at 1.1 to 1.2 times the actual load power to avoid overload operation and extend the service life.

A customer from Russia purchased six variable frequency induction motors for use in the field of oil and gas extraction. We suggest that they should maintain the motor regularly. The maintenance contents include:
Add the appropriate type of grease as per the motor manual. The amount of grease added should fill 1/2 to 2/3 of the bearing cavity to avoid excessive or insufficient grease causing bearing wear. The grease change cycle should be shortened under high-temperature and high-speed working conditions.
Measure the insulation resistance of the winding. The insulation resistance of a low voltage motor (380V) should be ≥1MΩ. If it is lower than the standard level, it needs to be dried to rule out moisture or insulation aging problems.
For water cooled motors, need to check whether there is any leakage in the pipelines and whether the water quality meets the standards to prevent scale blockage.
If the following situations occur, the bearing needs to be replaced
If there is a "buzzing" abnormal sound, a "clucking" friction sound or a periodic "rustling" sound, and the noise intensifies as the rotational speed increases, it is very likely that the bearing is worn, the ball is damaged or the lubrication has failed
If the temperature of the bearing end cover abnormally rises (40℃ above the ambient temperature or more than 20℃ higher than other parts of the motor) and does not cool down continuously, it may be due to bearing jamming or poor lubrication causing frictional heating
When the variable frequency induction motors are running, the vibration significantly increases, and the body feels violently shaking. Or, if the vibration value is detected by a simple vibration measurement tool to exceed the range specified on the motor nameplate, it may be due to excessive bearing clearance or uneven wear of the balls
