The main idea of explosion proof motors is to keep them safe. This means keeping the explosion proof structure in shape making sure they can handle hazardous environments and following the right steps for using and taking care of them. When we think about explosion proof motors, like the YBX3 series we need to remember some things. To use explosion proof motors safely we have to be very careful and follow the precautions for explosion proof motors:
I. Selection and Installation: Avoiding Safety Risks from the Source
Strictly match explosion proof rating and environment: Based on the types of flammable and explosive media at the site (such as IIB class gases, dust), as well as temperature groups (T1-T4), select the corresponding explosion proof marked motors (such as Ex db IIB T4 Gb), and strictly prohibit using lower-grade motors in high-risk environments.
To work properly the motor needs to be right for the job. This means the motor voltage, power, speed and load need to be a match. If the motor is too small it can get too hot. Become overloaded.
For places that're really high up, like more than 1000 meters above sea level or really hot, like more than 40 degrees Celsius or really cold like less, than -15 degrees Celsius you need to use a special motor. These motors are custom made for these conditions. You cannot use a standard motor. The special motor needs to be designed and it will work well in these operating conditions. The motor voltage, power, speed and load of the motor need to be matched to the task to avoid overloading and overheating of the motor.
To keep the explosion proof structure safe we need to be careful when we install it. We must not. Scratch the special joints on the base and end cover because these joints are what make it explosion proof. When we put the bolts in we have to make sure they are tightened the right amount. We need to use special washers to keep them from coming loose. The parts that seal the junction box and the shaft need to be in condition and the hole where the cable goes in needs to be sealed with a special explosion proof joint. This will stop anything that can catch fire from getting inside the explosion proof structure. We have to make sure the explosion proof structure is protected so that the explosion proof joints and other parts can do their job. The explosion proof structure needs to be kept safe, from damage so that it can keep us safe.
To make sure everything is safe we need to get the grounding and wiring right for the motor. The motor housing has to be grounded well so it is safe to use. This means the grounding resistance has to be four ohms or less.
We also need to make sure the terminals inside the junction box are connected tightly. If they are not they might come loose. Cause sparks.
The cable we use has to be the size for the motor. It has to be able to handle the current the motor is rated for. The insulation on the cable has to be in shape too.
We are not allowed to use wiring or change the way the wiring is done. The motor and its wiring have to be set up the way to avoid any problems, with the precautions for explosion proof motors.
II. Operating Process: Real-time Monitoring, Strict Prevention of Abnormalities
You have to keep an eye on the motor. The motor should work under the conditions it was made for. You need to check the current that the motor is using all the time. Make sure it does not go over the limit that it is supposed to work with. Also check the temperature of the motor. It should not get too hot. The temperature should not go over the limit for the type of motor it's like the T4 grade which should not go over 135 degrees Celsius. Do not make the motor work too hard, for long. This can hurt the motor.
When you are monitoring the machine you need to pay attention to the motor vibration and noise. You have to check if the motor vibration and noise are abnormal. If you hear sounds, from the motor or if there is severe vibration or the temperature rises really fast you have to stop the machine right away to check what is wrong. You cannot just keep using the machine if something's wrong. The machine must be stopped immediately for inspection. It is very important to remember that you are not allowed to use the machine if it is not working properly this is what people mean by "operate with faults". It is strictly prohibited.
To have a power supply the power company needs to make sure that the voltage does not go up or down by more than five percent. The frequency of the power supply should also not change by than two percent. If the power supply is not stable the windings in the equipment can get too hot. The insulation can break down. This is why the power supply needs to be stable. Stable power supply is very important to prevent damage to the equipment. Ensuring power supply is crucial to prevent overheating of the windings or insulation breakdown due, to unstable power supply. Stable power supply is necessary for the equipment to work properly.
Prohibition of Illegal Operations: During operation, do not randomly open the junction box, end cover, etc., or explosion proof components; strictly prohibit using hard objects such as iron to strike the motor casing to prevent damage to the explosion proof structure.
We have to be very careful with these points when we are talking about precautions for explosion proof motors. Explosion proof motors require care and these points are really important. When we use explosion proof motors we have to think about these points a lot. These points are crucial, for precautions for explosion proof motors.
III. Maintenance and Care: Upholding the Safety Bottom Line for Explosion proof
You should check the explosion proof structure on a basis. This means you need to clean the motor surface every three months. Use a cloth or an explosion proof vacuum cleaner to wipe away the dust and oil stains. Do not use water to clean it.
Also take a look at the explosion proof joint surface to see if there is any rust or if it is deformed. The explosion proof structure needs to be in condition. If you find any wear, on the explosion proof structure you need to fix it away. This is important because the clearance and the meshing length of the explosion proof structure have to meet the standards. The explosion proof structure is very important. You need to make sure it is working properly.
We need to maintain the components of the machine.
The insulation condition of the stator winding should be checked on a basis.
We can test it with a multimeter to see if the insulation resistance is one megohm or more.
The bearings also need to be taken care of.
We have to put lubricating grease on the bearings as needed. It is very important to use the model of grease. We should not put much grease on the bearings. When we need to replace parts we have to be very careful. We need to select explosion proof certified parts that're exactly the same, as the old parts. We are not allowed to use parts as substitutes for the explosion proof certified parts. Using parts is strictly forbidden for the machine.
To shut down and do maintenance the way you need to do it in a place that does not have anything that can catch fire or explode. You have to turn off the power and put up a sign too. If you have to open the cover you should do it in a place. After you are done with the maintenance you have to make sure that all the parts that are supposed to be safe from explosions are put back on correctly and that the seals are still good before you use it again. This is important for maintenance and shutdown of equipment, like this. Maintenance and shutdown should always be done with care so you do not forget to check the explosion proof components and seals.

We need to keep track of maintenance records for our motors. This means we have to write down how long the motor has been running, what kind of maintenance we did and when we replaced any parts. It is an idea to have a book or ledger where we can keep all this information. This way we can easily look back. See the safety status of our motor. A lot of people forget to do this in precautions for explosion proof motors when they are working.
IV. Special Scenarios and Emergency Handling
Dusty Environments: You should check the special coating on the motor and the seals all the time. If the coating starts to come off or gets old you need to take care of it away. When the motor is, in a place you should clean it more often. This is because dust can get stuck in the heat sinks and make the motor get too hot.
Emergency Troubleshooting: If the motor starts to emit sparks or strange odors or if the casing gets too hot you need to do something away. Immediately cut off the power supply to the motor. Then evacuate the area around the motor because it is not safe. Wait until the air is clear of anything that can catch fire before you try to figure out what is wrong, with the motor.. Remember, do not try to open the cover of the motor to fix it right away because that is not a good idea and can be dangerous. The motor needs to be checked before anyone tries to fix it.
Personnel Requirements: Operators and maintenance personnel must undergo professional training, be familiar with the principles of explosion proof motors and safety regulations, and master the emergency handling procedures.
